Want to know the nutrient value of your effluent?

Your dairy effluent contains valuable nutrients, but do you know how much?

Testing your effluent can help you make better fertiliser decisions, improve nutrient use efficiency and potentially reduce costs.

We’re running a SADA-led dairy effluent sampling pilot in the Limestone Coast, funded by the Limestone Coast Landscape Board (LCLB), testing nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) in both liquid and solid effluent from participating dairy farms to better understand nutrient value.

As part of the pilot, SADA’s Policy Officer John Elferink and a representative from the Limestone Coast Landscape Board will visit participating farms together to collect effluent samples for testing.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please complete the Expression of Interest form to register your interest.

Participants will receive their results at the SADA Farm Smarter November workshop and learn how to apply them to fertiliser and nutrient management.

Findings will also contribute to a case study for the LCLB on the benefits of effluent testing for nutrient management. Results will be grouped or made anonymous so individual farms cannot be identified.
